The solar scheme in Zimbabwe assisted by 2 million Euros($2.22 million) from the European Union have helped chicken farms, fisheries, tailors and shop keepers acquire hire-purchase solar panels. Jonathan Njerere head of programmer in Zimbabwe for charity Oxfam said his organization and others had set up a community - owned, self-financing solar energy scheme in Gutu district, 230km East of Harare which have also enabled 270 farmers to irrigate about 39.5 acres of farmlands.(source:TODAY)
